a music video for the moment

april 2017

A music video created for musician friend Dan O’Rourke in response to the terror attack in Brussels.

The video is a riff on the over saturated 24-hour media coverage of such tragedies and the art direction called for a “video soup.”

The project was a great opportunity to learn the technique of datamoshing, where you intentionally introduce artifacting into your video files.  It took me far out of my After Effects comfort zone and taught me tons about video codecs. I recommend checking out this tutorial if you are interested in pushing some pixels.
